Dealing with the responsibility of bearing witness to the social and political realities, while negotiating the “red lines” of state censorship and fear of imprisonment, is part of being a filmmaker. Each author explores her filmmaking process and her daily life, through computer games, protests, family archive and the opening of an artists’ café. This film offers a unique insight into what it is like to be an Iranian filmmaker in these times, expressed through a collective cinematic voice. After the screening, one of the filmmakers, Shirin Barghnavard, was in conversation with Treasa O’Brien, filmmaker and curator.
